Finding Great Joy at the Thrift House

Written by Rena Sartain

I have been working off and on at the Cathedral Thrift House for many years and in many locations. I found my exquisite long black satin dress that I wore to my son's wedding in 2008. I found my Ralph Lauren sweater with the ostrich feathers in 2011. And in 2019, I bought a stunning St. John's knit suit that I wore to my first grandchild's christening!  Since then, anything that catches my eye - from English Toby mugs to silver trays. And don't forget the bling! The new jewelry counter is full of surprises. The Thrift House has all kinds of unexpected discoveries at just the right price.

So when I moved and downsized, it was finally time to part with my beautiful mother's furniture, rugs and other lovelies, I looked to the TH to recycle and find new homes for these things that I had loved and valued for a lifetime. The parting was sweet sorrow but in the process I found great joy in knowing these things would find new homes and new owners that would love them all over again, just as I had.

The Thrift House makes it easy to donate knowing you are helping ministries all over the city. Donations must be in good and clean condition and ready to sell. We can make arrangements to help you if need be with a call to the store.

The Thrift House has quite a following in the community. From regular customers to antique dealers and movie production people, to those who truly look to us for help with dignity and respect.

What a great place to shop as well as donate. and what a great experience it has been for me to allow others to find treasures that simply needed someone new to love them.
